No. Our steel framing is fully galvanised, meaning it does not absorb water and is protected from corrosion. Steel cannot burn, and because it is enclosed within a cavity wall system, it remains protected from extreme conditions.
The linings we use are also fire‑resistant and moisture‑resistant. All steel framing used by Pashin Homes is manufactured in New Zealand.

We do not use concrete slabs because they are susceptible to moisture, cracking, flooding issues, and earthquake damage.

Pashin Homes uses Wild Boar pin footings, which provide several advantages:

In most cases, we use bamboo composite products because they are sustainable, durable, and dimensionally stable. Bamboo grows rapidly (around five years), does not warp, and can be revitalised to look new again. It is suitable for decking, flooring, and exterior cladding.
We also use macrocarpa for selected finishings such as architraves, benchtops, and windowsills. Macrocarpa is naturally resistant to rot and termites, so it does not require chemical treatment.

We use high‑quality uPVC windows, available in double or triple glazing. uPVC joinery provides excellent thermal performance and is well suited to passive‑style homes.
Aluminium and timber joinery cannot achieve the same passive‑house performance without significant additional construction costs, which is why we choose uPVC.
